Lighthouse de Brandaris

The Brandaris is one of the highlights in terms of sights on Terschelling. It is the oldest lighthouse in the Netherlands! We have daily contact with the traffic post at the top of the tower. The lighthouse was first built in 1323 to mark the narrow opening between Vlieland and Terschelling for passing ships. This is the Stortemelk, where we sail almost daily. The original tower is no longer there (it crashed into the sea around 1570), but the current tower still dates from 1594.

Discover the island by bicycle

Terschelling is a real cycling island: the island has over 80 kilometers of cycling paths! Upon arrival at the port, we will take you to the bike rental and give you tips for fun routes. Make a bicycle trip across the island along the most beautiful places and nicest villages! In any case, don’t miss Oosterend and Midsland: Oosterend is the easternmost village on Terschelling and is close to the Boschplaat nature reserve. Perfect for nature lovers and hikers! Those who like a bit of urban flair go to Midsland: this village forms the atmospheric center of the island.

(Mid) day at the beach

The Groenestrand is within walking distance from the harbor. Enjoy the peace and nature here or have a snack and drink in the beach pavilion De Walvis! The most beautiful beach of Terschelling? You will find it at the village of West Terschelling, called West aan Zee! The sandy beach is not only very long, it is also very wide: there is always room for sun worshipers, runners, dogs or children playing.

Island experience never to be forgotten at!

Super fun activities are organized for both the business and private island guest. Blokarting, paintball, a GPS island tour, beach ride with a landrover, horseback riding, a covered wagon ride, kayaking on the Wad: too many to mention and suitable for everyone. We are happy to inform you about this.

Shopping on Terschelling

Visiting a fair, shopping for clothes, trying on shoes or taking a typical souvenir from Terschelling? Shopping is best in the villages of West-Terschelling, Midsland or Hoorn.

Going Out on Terschelling

Beach pavilions, cozy cafes & terraces, bars and discos: you will find it on Terschelling! For the night hours, the entertainment centers of West-Terschelling and Midsland are recommended, where you will find popular discos such as WYB, Braskoer, OKA 18 and Danscafé de Stoep. A visit to Hessel and Tess in café de Groene Weide is also highly recommended!

What to do on Terschelling with rain?

Swimming! Not on the beach, but in the cozy family pool de Dôbe. Whether you want to do a few lengths or want to swim disco, everything is possible here.
The Wrecks Museum in Formerum is also worth a visit! The museum is full of rarities from the period 1650 to the present. An exciting museum for young and old.
