Oh no, it’s going to rain!

You have planned a wonderful day of sailing with the children. The night before you are already busy packing the bags. You don’t want to forget anything! The children have been looking forward to this wonderful adventure for a long time and you just as much.

Dream away on the Wadden Sea. Enjoy the water, nature and the many animals that can be seen on the Wad. To prepare even more, take a look at the weather forecasts on your phone. You drop your phone in shock: it is going to rain! Oh no, now what? Do not panic. Rain while sailing doesn’t have to be bad at all!

Prepare with appropriate clothing

Sailing can also be great fun when it rains. Of course you have to prepare well by bringing rain gear, but then it is one big adventure. Sail with the skipper and let the children help with the sailing. There are life jackets on board and luckily it hardly ever rains all day in the Netherlands!

The steering wheel is behind the skipper’s house and you are always welcome to help with sailing, steering and navigation, but of course also for a chat with the skipper. He can tell you everything about sailing and what happens on the Wadden Sea. If you don’t want to stand in the rain, a rain tent can be stretched over the comfortable cockpit in the harbor.

Warm up with hot chocolate

Sailing on board our ships is characterized by a sporty and adventurous character, but of course you can always warm up in the attractive salon with delicious hot chocolate.

The salon of the Noordvaarder and the Victoria-S exude a pleasant ship atmosphere and are fully equipped. You can listen to music from the Boze music box (works via Bluetooth) and there are various board games available and there is also a small ship library. Enough entertainment when the weather is a bit disappointing. You can look directly outside from the atmospheric salon, so you don’t miss anything of the Wadden Sea.

There is also plenty to do for the little pirates in the company! There is a mudflats chest full of all the secrets of the Wad. Has clothing got wet unexpectedly? In consultation you can also use the washing machine and dryer.

And of course there are plenty of things to do in the Wadden Islands when it rains. You can of course enjoy cycling when the sun is shining, but the indoor activities are also very nice. For example, there is an indoor swimming pool on every Wadden Island and there are plenty of nice museums. You can find a lot of information about this on the Wadden website.
