Last Friday our sailing ship the Noordvaarder was the setting for a special wedding.

On Friday morning, friends and family decorated the ship! At 1:30 PM the bridal couple steps on board in a beautiful spot in the outer harbor of Harlingen and we sail into the Noorderhaven. The Noorderhaven is also described as the most beautiful street in the Netherlands. Along the quays are stately monuments, which revive the times of yesteryear. The often impressive buildings with beautiful details were home to shipowners and captains. Warehouses with names of exotic destinations tell the story of global trade. The Harlinger town hall (built around 1730 by Hedrik Jacobs Norel) is an eye-catcher on the Noorderhaven. Because we sail at a walking pace, family, friends and the photographer can walk ashore and take beautiful photos. At the end of the Noorderhaven we moor directly in front of the town hall of Harlingen. The wedding guests step on board where the coffee / tea is ready with some goodies.

Special wedding location

Inside, the ship has been transformed into a wedding location. We are honored that they want to seal their love for each other with us on board. At 3:00 PM, the wedding official steps on board for the wedding ceremony. A special moment at a special wedding promotion. The weather is beautiful so everyone enjoys champagne and wedding cake on deck. After dinner on board, the party continues in an attractive cafe in the city of Harlingen. The bridal couple concluded this festive day in the skipper’s groove, which had been transformed into a bridal suite.

Wedding venue for a weekend

As icing on the cake, you can of course also throw out the trusses after the wedding ceremony and make a beautiful sailing trip to Vlieland or Terschelling. On Saturday you discover the island and on Sunday we sail back to Harlingen, where we say goodbye at the end of the afternoon.
